The Engagement phase helps teams identify and adopt ‘best practice.’  Examples of the activities associated with this phase of work include:

Cross-functional engagement to ensure involvement by all parts of the organisation:

• Build commitment to place sustainability at the heart of organisational strategy
• Assess the implications for each functional area
• Identify opportunities to implement ‘best practice.’

Assessing implications for the organisation:

• Identify options to reduce adverse impact on the environment
• Define the behaviours and capabilities required to support new ways of working
• Assess the gap between current vs. required behaviours and capabilities

Develop action plans for teams and functions

• Identify how functional goals link to organisational objectives
• Support functional teams identify innovative and ambitious opportunities to deliver environmental benefits
• Develop high-level ‘benefits case’ to evaluate proposed options
• Agree action plans for teams/functions that will feed into the emerging low carbon strategy for the organisation
